Why Marry In Church?

A church is so much more than simply a venue for your special day. Weddings in our churches are memorable and joyful occasions lasting around an hour, made more joyous by the beauty of the surroundings, the music and by the fact that they are part of a Christian tradition stretching back centuries. You will experience a spiritual dimension to your wedding – knowing that your marriage is blessed by God is the foundation of the day, and of your future together. Our fine organ and choir can make your service even more special. The prayers, hymns and readings at a church ceremony provide a sense that you are being 'supported' in your life long commitment to one another and as the Church Times recently suggested holding your wedding in a church gives you "space to think" not just about your special day but about the whole of your life together.

The heart of the marriage ceremony comes as you make your marriage vows to one another. You promise to ‘love and to cherish; for better or worse; for richer or poorer; in sickness and in health till death us do part.’

Who Can Get Married In Church?

In order to get married in church you need to have what’s called a “qualifying connection” with the parish.  Some couples who marry at our churches already have such a connection, other couples create a connection by coming to worship with us for six months.  Talk to us to find out more. If you are interested in getting married at All Saints, please call us on 07934 101538   or you may email us at

Which Church Can We Get Married In?

Both All Saints, Aston and Holy Trinity, Ulley make wonderful church venues in which to hold your wedding. Both buildings are steeped in history, make awesome settings for your photographs and of course weddings have taken place in these two places of worship in the presence of God for centuries.

What About Children?

Couples who come to us often already have children and we make them welcome. Depending on their age, they can be involved with the service by carrying the rings, saying a prayer, doing a reading, receiving a blessing with their parents, or in traditional roles such as bridesmaid or usher.

What If One Of Us Is Divorced?

If one or both of you has been married before and is divorced, then we should be able to marry you at All Saints. Please let us know when you enquire. We have work with several vicars who will be able to conduct the service for you. If you are interested in getting married at All Saints, please call us on 07934 101538 or you may email us at

What Is The Process?

The first step in booking your wedding is to contact the parish office. Hazel Winstanley will take initial information, send you an information booklet and make you an initial appointment with her.  To this meeting will need to bring various documentation and £100 deposit to make a firm booking. A few months before your wedding you will be invited to a wedding preparation event, which helps you look at what the wedding vows mean for your relationship, and think through the details of your wedding service.  After that you can prepare your orders of service, using a template supplied by us. The full fees are payable 4 – 6 weeks before your wedding. Your banns of marriage will be called on three consecutive Sundays two months before your wedding date, and you will be informed of the dates, as we encourage you to attend if you can.

What Music And Hymns Can I Have At My Wedding?

We will look after you as much as possible with your music requests and will endeavour to prepare the music for your special day. It is traditional in church to have organ music for the brides' procession, during the signing of the registers and on exit of the wedding couple and we certainly encourage you to opt for this however, you may also choose some appropriate music from a CD if you want something completely different. You will need to provide the CD before the day with your specific tracks clearly labelled. It is also usual to have at least two Christian Hymns during the ceremony and we encourage you to think carefully about which hymns you feel you would like by listening to the music and lyrics. The first hymn is usually near to the beginning of the service and serves to give everyone present a real sense of purpose in being there together to celebrate the bride and grooms' special occasion, the second hymn is optional  and is placed in the middle of the service close to the readings with a final hymn which may be just after the registers are signed.

Here are our suggestions for music for your special day.

All Saints, Aston is blessed with a full robed choir and if you feel that your own wedding guests may need help in singing the hymns and/or you'd like the choir to sing something beautiful during the signing of the registers then do request our choir and we will do our best to provide them for your wedding service.  The church service is a large part of your special day and we really do recommend employing our choir which will be a massive help with leading the singing, this will help your guests feel more confident to 'have a go' at singing along and prevent you and your guests from feeling uncomfortable if inexperienced in hymn singing. Our choir is a mixed choir of all ages who rehearse weekly and charges are usually based upon the quality of the choir in any church, we really do feel that it is a small financial investment for such a large gain at All Saints Aston.

You may know someone who you would like to perform for you during your ceremony - no problem; let us know and we will try to make things possible for you. We consider the church bells to be music too and offer a bell ringing service of our three beautiful church bells at the end of the ceremony, these traditionally announce to the local area that something special has happened within the church regarding new found happiness and a new life together. The ringing of bells at a wedding ceremony is a centuries old and lovely tradition. Please talk to Hazel in the Parish Office about the costs of choir and bells and let the wonder of the sounds of church music round off your special day perfectly. You may also attend a Thursday evening choir rehearsal by appointment to hear the choir or hear simply them on a Sunday morning of course.

Chloe and Declan Nolan were married April 2022
(with special guest, Pablo)
wedding dogThank you so much all Saints for our perfect wedding day. From start to finish our service was lovely. From booking our wedding at Aston church we have found everyone who we have dealt with have been so kind and friendly and have always gone above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly on the day. They even let us have our little dog Pablo in our service which meant the world to us. The choir was wonderful, we are so happy we decided to have them. This church is simply stunning and I would highly recommend anyone to get married there. From the bottom of our hearts thank you so so much.

Mr & Mrs Padley were married March 2022...

"Our wedding on the 12th of March at Aston church was amazing.
We were so pleased that the church had a modern stance on second marriages and this was one of the attractions.
The run up to the wedding was well organised thanks to Louise who made it stress free by answering any questions.
Nothing was too much trouble for Louise and during the process we have now formed a forever friendship.
The service was conducted by Father Ian who was professional but also humorous and friendly which helped us calm our nerves.
We would highly recommend marrying here and it was one of the best days of our lives."
Paul and Rebecca Hunter were married February 2022...

Me and Rebecca got married on the 26th of February 2022 and would just like to give a huge thank you for everybody involved in making our special day, the perfect wedding day for us.
Everybody who helped from day one was amazing and very welcoming to such an extent we can now call them friends.
Nothing was too much trouble at all at any time, and everything ran like clockwork and thats down to how professional everybody is.
The Church itself is a beautiful, stunning old building with lovely surroundings and was the perfect venue for us to get married.
I highly recommend Aston All saints church if you are interested and looking for the perfect venue for your wedding.

Lauren and Brad were married December 2021...

"We had our wedding at All Saints Aston Church on the 4th December 2021 and I could not believe how smoothly the service went but also how special it was.
We had a connection with the church however we still did our 6 visits before - I cannot recommend this enough. Through doing our church visits we were able to make connections with members of the church, meet the vicars but also the wardens and choir. Louise and Sheila in particular ensured that our nerves were calmed and that we had everything we needed.
We chose to have the choir and this was the best decision we made, even with 100 guests, we were worried that no one would sing. They did sing, however it was so beautiful with the choir there, making the service so uplifting. Our friends and family commented on how lovely the hymns were, but also how beautiful the choir sounded when we were signing the registers. A massive thank you to Louise for helping us choose the music for the register signing and also putting our hymns in order - literal god send.
Father Ian - what an amazing man! He put us both at ease at the rehearsal and also cracked a couple of jokes throughout the ceremony which made it so much more light hearted whilst keeping the church at the centre of our vows.
We couldn’t have been happier with our service and the run up to it! I would like to say the biggest thank you to All Saints Aston for being so amazing and making our day so so special."
