What Should I Expect When I Visit Church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Teams who will be able to answer your questions, give you the service booklet with the words for the days service and help you find a seat.  Services usually last about an hour.  There are hymns and prayers to join in with, readings from the Bible and a sermon (usual length about ten minutes) which connects up the Bible passages with everyday life.

Taking Communion pic 2

Most weeks, between both churches, we celebrate Holy Communion – sharing the bread and wine in memory of Jesus’ last meal with his friends (as seen above). If you are not confirmed or don’t usually take the bread and wine, you’re invited to take part by coming to the altar rail to receive a blessing.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after the services where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

If you’d like a shorter, simpler service, then our All Age Service on the first Sunday of the month at All Saints, Aston could be just right for you.  It last 45 minutes, and children stay in this service with their parents.

Is There A Dress Code?

Not at all.  Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I Have To Join In?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.

What Happens To The Kids At Church?

Jesus was known for welcoming children – so we aim to do the same! Our All Age Services are especially for parents and children.  We like children to be involved and even help lead the service.

There’s a crèche area in Aston church with toys and books:  it’s on the left hand side.  Toilet facilities at Aston are available through the door marked with a green fire exit sign, on the left toward the front of the church. At Ulley, children tend to be looked after at the rear of the church where there is a table set up for crafts, etc and a toilet is located at the rear of the church next to the kitchen.

During term time at Aston the Footprints and Fun group meets every Sunday (except the first in the month). Children stay with their parents at the start of the service.  The minister will announce when the children need to go to their activity with our Children's Minister Beth Henshaw (pictured below). You will need to go with your children and register them, the first time they attend. When children are old enough to be left in the group, parents are invited to leave them and return to the service. At Ulley Sue Linley, our Children's Worker will take care of the younger ones at the rear of the main body of the church.
